Roseanne Marie Grosso, 83, of Red Wing, died Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born August 7, 1942, in Hibbing, Minnesota to James and Loretta (Degubellis) Toscano. Roseanne graduated from Chisholm Senior High School in 1960. She lived in Milwaukee for five years before returning home. On February 19, 1966, she married Jeffrey Grosso at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm and afterward they lived in Duluth. They had two children, Anthony and Christina, and in 1981 they moved to Red Wing. Roseanne wrote a column called “Wingin’ It” that was published in the local Shopper. She also wrote human interest features and interviewed local artists and non profit organizations. She then went on to write feature stories for the Republican Eagle. Additionally, she hosted the Community Focus radio show on KCUE for a number of years. Roseanne was also published in the Porcupine Press in Upper Michigan. She was active in local politics and served on several committees and boards to include the Charter Commission, the Port Authority, Red Wing City Council and served as the first woman County Commissioner in Goodhue County. She also was active with the Goodhue County Historical Society, Hope Coalition Board, served on the Red Wing HRA and was a liaison for the Three Rivers Community Action Group. She believed strongly in affordable housing initiatives. In 2021, she was inducted into the Red Wing Women’s Hall of Fame.
Roseanne was a very social person and believed that people should be treated with respect with no regard for class, race or social status. She was very passionate, outspoken and strong-willed and had a strong sense of morality. Roseanne shared these values across both her personal and professional life.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Grosso; children, Tony (Nikki) Grosso and Christina (Gary Jr.) Chalupa; grandsons, Joshua and Logan Grosso and sisters, Regina (Pat) Scott, Lois Fesnick and Mary Mickelson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arthur James Toscano.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Church of St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity or Goodhue County Historical Society.
