ZUMBROTA - Rosella E. Olson, 86, of Zumbrota, died Monday evening (Mar. 5, 2012) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her loving family. Born Aug. 24, 1925, on the family farm in Goodhue County to Arthur and Lilly (Kunde) Mehrkens. She attended rural Grace Lutheran School, was baptized Sept. 13, 1925, and was confirmed May 28, 1939. On Sept. 20, 1945, she married Palmer A. Olson at Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. They made their home in Zumbrota. Rosella worked at Libby's in Rochester, and ZUMCO, Inc. in Zumbrota. She loved children, and did day care in her home for many years. A member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #5727, she enjoyed baking, puzzles, crafts, and her Vikings and Twins.
Rosella is survived by her children, Carolyn (Chuck) Morken, Larry (Mary Lee) Olson, Dianne (Steve) Henry, and Dale (Diane) Olson, all of Zumbrota; Barbara (Scott) Underdahl of Nerstrand, MN; Nancy (Gordon Ellanson) Finnesgard of LeCenter, MN; and David (Deb) Olson of Mazeppa; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four step grandchildren; twelve step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dog Buddy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer, who died Aug. 2, 2007, her son Scott Olson, her granddaughter Jacqueline, brother LuVerne, grandson Scot O'Reilly, and son-in-law Dean O'Reilly.
Visitation and reviewal will be Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. The memorial service will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Rev. Wayne Schoch officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service Saturday at the Church.
