Roselyn “Rosie” Kay Myhrer, 72, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Mayo Clinic Health Center – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.
She was born November 15, 1949 in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota to Albert and Esther (Ortloff) Myhrer. Because Albert was a minister, the family moved frequently, living all over the Midwest. Rosie graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth in 1967. After high school she lived on the west coast for some years before returning to Minnesota. She alternated between living and working in Red Wing and the Twin Cities area before eventually settling in Red Wing. She worked for Riviera Cabinets, the Red Wing Shoe and finally with REM. She was devoted to and very invested in the wellbeing of her clients at REM. She was a wonderful caregiver and advocate for their causes.
Rosie’s faith was a guiding light in her life and in the lives of others. She regularly prayed for and with her loved ones and took great care in selecting words of comfort from scripture to pass along to her family in times of need. She ministered through Mended Wings at the Red Wing Care Center for many years, leading bible studies, worship services, and devotional meetings.
She was also very creative and enjoyed cooking and baking. At Christmas time she would bake cookies with her nieces and nephews. Rosie also loved to write music and lyrics. Writing songs of worship brought her great joy.
She will be missed by many, including her siblings; Karen Etheridge of Red Wing, Keith Myhrer of Las Vegas, and Nancy (Dennis) Hanson of Ellsworth; nieces, Melody, Angela and Deanna; nephew, Aaron; 13 great nieces and nephews one great-great niece.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Laurel (Lolly) Jennings and Estelle Myhrer; brother, Terrance (Terry) Myhrer; nephew, Michael Jennings; and her parents.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Valley View Assembly of God in Lake City with Rev. Orin Sandberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
