Rueben Leo Berg

June 1, 1947 — February 7, 2022

Wanamingo

Rueben Leo Berg, 74, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 7, 2022.
He was born in Red Wing,  Minnesota, on June 1, 1947, to Melvin and Luella Berg.  He was one of ten kids, and they were hard working farmers. Rueben always enjoyed the great outdoors. He graduated from Wanamingo High School, and married Brenda Wallaker on May 15, 1982. Together they had four boys; Cory, Scott, Ryan and Alex. They were later divorced.
Rueben worked at Maple Island in Wanamingo and then joined the crew at Wanamingo Soil Center/ AG Partners. He retired in 2017. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and going for drives, wanting to see deer and other wildlife. He enjoyed softball and became the umpire for the Charlies Women's Softball Team, which he enjoyed very much. He also organized other softball games around town. In 2015 he took his four sons up to the Lake of the Woods for a weekend of fishing. As the years went by this became a yearly adventure, and it grew to 24 men and boys. This was a great time for all.
He will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memory include, his four sons; Cory (Maria), Scott (Tanya), Ryan (Joy), Alex (Dani), grandchildren; Kylee, Kara, Ava, Kylie, Corbyn, Charlee, Kinzlee, Colton, Oakley, Leon and Mila;  brothers and sisters; Eileen Anderson, Dewey Berg, Larry (Sue) Berg, Lila (Wally) Johnson, Donna (Ron) Amundson and Judy (Craig) Grudem; a sister-in-law Jeanne Berg, and beloved dog Duke.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Melvin and Luella Berg, sister; Yvonne Hinsch;  brothers, Marlan Berg and Vernon Berg, sister-in-laws, Alice Berg, Maggie Berg and brothers-in-law Jim Hinsch and Richard Anderson.

A Memorial Service is being held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, with Pastor David Krinke officiating. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM, and the service will follow at 2:00 PM. This will also be live streamed on Lands Lutheran Church's Facebook Page. Burial will take place at a later date.  Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for refreshments and a time of celebrating Reuben's life at the VFW in Zumbrota.

Blessed be his memory.
