Ruth Ellen (Rommelmeyer) Brandt

Ruth Ellen Brandt of Colfax, WI, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024 in Rochester, MN at the home of her daughter and son-in-law after a brief illness.

Ruth was born on November 13, 1941 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Emil and Freda Rommelmeyer. She graduated from Menomonie High School and continued her schooling to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Ruth’s nursing career spanned over 50 years in a variety of healthcare settings in the Minneapolis, MN area, as well as Eau Claire and Menomonie, WI.

Ruth had a strong faith that was extremely important to her. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed spending time with family, flower gardening, watching and feeding the birds, reading, and loving many pets over the years. Ruth most enjoyed living at “the lake” with Jim.

Ruth is survived by her children, Donald (Karen) of Maple Lake, MN, David of Brooklyn Park, MN and Amy (Steven) Determan of Rochester, MN; granddaughter Kaitlyn (fiancé Trent) and great-granddaughter Peyton. She is also survived by her sister Carol Janecke, a niece and nephew, several cousins and Missy, her constant feline companion for over 15 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents and an infant sister, Charlotte. Special thanks to Mayo Hospice for the care and support they provided to Ruth and her family.

A private service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Rochester, Minnesota with the Reverend Dr. Glenn Monson officiating. Interment will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth requested memorials be designated to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Rochester, MN in gratitude for their online worship services she enjoyed immensely for the last three years.
