Sandra Ann Sebring, 83, of Red Wing, formerly of Hammondsport, New York, died Friday, September 19, 2025, at her home with her husband by her side.
Sandie was born May 11, 1942, daughter of the late Frederick and Rhea Schaefer in Lynbrook, NY.
She graduated from Malverne Public School in 1960. Sandie worked at her mother's music school, where she enjoyed teaching students and sharing her love of music.
On May 23, 1964, Sandie married William LeRoux, and the couple moved to Watkins Glen, NY, where they had three children.
After raising their children, she became a health care aid, working in local nursing homes and the hospital.
Sandie later remarried, marrying John Sebring on February 4, 1994, in Wayne, New York, and together, they built a cabin and made their home off-grid near the Finger Lakes. Sandie was very proud of her ability to live comfortably without running water and electricity. She had a deep and abiding faith in God as her savior and loved sharing her faith and her simple lifestyle with her grandchildren. She had a witty sense of humor, and enjoyed sitting on the porch with her pets watching the birds and occasionally yelling at the bears who ventured a little too close.
She was an avid jigsaw puzzler and enjoyed gardening, canning, walking in the woods, fishing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, John; 3 children, Jeanette Cleveland, Jeanine Schoonover of Elmira, New York and William LeRoux, of Bath, New York, step-children; Mindy (Mark) Schroeder of Rochester, Minn. and James (Melissa) Sebring of Prescott, Wis. 7 grandchildren, DeAnna (Daniel), Thomas (Dana), Matthew (Samantha), Nicholas (Katie), Schaefer, Olivia, and Tim; 5 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Douglas (Karen) Schaefer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law Dale Cleveland.
A celebration of Sandra's life will be held at a later date.
