Sanford Erie

Sanford Donald Erie, 88, of Red Wing, died Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Valentines Assisted Living in Red Wing. He was born on October 9, 1935 to Jens and Olava (Finne) Erie in Kenyon, Minnesota. Sanford lived in Chicago Heights, Il for many years with his sister Maime's family. While living there he was a dishwasher at a local hospital. After moving back to Red Wing he lived with his Mom, Olava, who he dearly loved and missed every day after she passed. He was, also, a dishwasher for Liberty's in Red Wing. Sanford was a joyful, kind, and appreciative person. Family was very important to him. Sanford also enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music and watching John Wayne movies. He also loved his cat, Missy.

Sanford is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Olava; and 5 brothers (Ray, Louis, Jim, Joel and Ken) and 5 sisters (Sylvia, Maime, Agnes (Bobbi), Oretta, and Ione).

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 4-5 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A dinner will follow the service at Mahn Family Funeral Home. Interment will take place 10 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2024 at Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
