Spencer Davis Sommerfield, 26, of Lake City, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. He was born on February 23, 1997, in Red Wing to Jeffrey and Marci (Jameson) Sommerfield. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 2015. He worked at Hearth and Home in Lake City, Wiebusch Dairy Farm and Meadow Valley Moto Cross.
Spencer was a man to be counted on. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed working with his hands. His love of the outdoors and everything to do with farm life meant he treasured his life in Southeastern Minnesota where he spent time hunting & fishing, dirt biking, and milking cows. Spencer was never boring, always opinionated, and very entertaining. He liked to tell stories and laugh with his friends – all his visiting earned him the nickname “Talker.”
At the time of his death, Spencer was excitedly planning his wedding with the love of his life, Megan. They were to be married in October of this year. He was looking forward to starting and raising a family in and around the small towns and good people he held deep in his heart.
To his parents Spencer was dependable and wise, even as a boy. To his sisters he was ever their bossy big brother and protector. To all his friends and family he was light and joy. His light will continue to shine on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him for as long as they walk this earth.
Spencer is survived by his fiancé, Megan Selvig of Lake City, his parents, Jeffrey (Ruth Cyphers) Sommerfield of Millville, and Marci (Larry) Bamlet of Stewartville; two sisters, Shelby Sommerfield of Millville, and Remi Sommerfield of Stewartville; paternal grandfather, Harold Sommerfield of Lake City and maternal grandparents, Phyllis and Curly Jameson of Eyota. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who considered him family. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Judy Miller.
