Stella Sedora Scheffler

Stella S. Scheffler, 90, of Pine Island, died Saturday February 18, 2012 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island with her family by her side. She was born on January 31, 1922, in Minneola Township, to Otto and Ella (Thoreson) Bjugan. Stella attended country school and graduated from Pine Island High School. She worked at Zumbrota Hospital for 28 years until her retirement. Stella married Warren Alberts on February 21, 1942 and he died in October 1950, they had three daughters. Later she married Rueben Scheffler Sr. on March 29, 1952 at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. He died March 1, 2003, they had one son. She lived in rural Pine Island and moved into town in 1998. Stella was a member of Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, and belonged to Pine Island Senior Citizens, Pine Ears Choir in Pine Island, Pine Aires Goodhue County home study groups, and a rural birthday club. She enjoyed traveling, reading, painting, quilting, crocheting, she crocheted afghans for her grandchildren. Stella especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Stella is survived by one son, Rueben Scheffler Jr. of Zumbrota; three daughters, Sharon (Ernest) Banks of Pine Island, Shirley (Merlyn) Banick of Delano, MN, Beverly (Bruce) Kerkhoff of Rochester; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers John (Gloria) Bjugan of Stillwater, Oraine (Darleen) Bjugan of Pine Island; many nieces and nephews.

Stella was preceded in death by her husbands; granddaughter, Nicole Banick.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February, 23, 2012 at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
