Susan "Suzi" E. Wells, a remarkable soul who touched the lives of many, passed away on Thursday, February 22, after a brief stay at   Augustana Care in Apple Valley. She was born on March 18, 1947, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to parents Gerald and Mary Ross. Suzi brought warmth and laughter into the world with her infectious sense of humor and uplifting spirit.

Throughout her life journey, Suzi's resilience and courage shone brightly as she faced various adversities and physical challenges with grace and humor. Her true calling seemed to be spreading joy and lifting others up, serving as a beacon of empathy and love to all who crossed her path. Suzi's ability to listen, guide, and support those around her made a significant impact on numerous lives.

Suzi pursued her education at Notre Dame High School in Portsmouth before deciding to explore a different path by spending time at Assisi Heights in Rochester to become a nun. However, she eventually realized that her calling lay elsewhere. Suzi later went on to establish a career in medical coding for University of Minnesota Physicians, though her greatest job was that of being a dedicated mother, who had a huge heart and made many sacrifices so that her children could be their best.

Suzi met the love of her life, John Wells, one special evening in Columbus, Ohio, and the two were married a few short weeks later, spending the last forty years together as true soulmates.  Their combined families lived in Ohio for several years, until life and employment brought them to Minnesota and eventually, Red Wing, where they've lived since 2013.

She was a beloved wife to John Wells and mother to Kimberly (Tony) Torres, Jim (Leah) Copley, Chris "CJ" (Katrina) Wells, Chris (Michelle) Copley, Ryan Wells and Matt (Kristin) Copley. Her legacy also lives on through her ten grandchildren: Cason, Clay, Cash, Julian, Makenna, Nick, Kaitlin, Tristan, Christian, and Caitlin and three great grandchildren Kaidence, Dominick and Dahlia. Suzi will be deeply missed by her siblings Pat (Terry) Ross, Dan (Kris) Ross, John (Sue) Ross, Jerry (Laura) Ross, Anne Furry, Sally Ross, Mike (Ceci) Ross as well as by many other extended family members and friends.

A woman of unwavering courage and compassion has left this world but her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will always be Wonder Woman from her Lancaster years in many of our eyes. In light of her positive and uplifting spirt, we will celebrate the life of Suzi Wells on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 10:30 AM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Father James Notebaart officiating.  A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services.  Her remains will be laid to rest at the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing the following day at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered instead, to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the Davis Phinney Foundation: Live Well with Parkinson’s TODAY.

Rest peacefully dear Suzi. Your light will continue to shine through all those you have touched.
