Thomas (Tom) Conway, 77, of Red Wing, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Tom was born on February 16, 1949, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to George and Iline (Stephans) Conway. He spent his early years in Onalaska, Wisconsin, before moving with his family to Lake City, Minnesota, in 1962. He graduated from Lake City High School and served in the Army from 1969 to 1974. He married Nancy Jahns on November 28, 1970. They made their home in Red Wing where he worked for the City of Red Wing in various positions for over 30 years. He most enjoyed the many years working at and taking care of the Athletic field. He retired in 2005. Tom enjoyed searching for and collecting antiques. He enjoyed salvaging stained glass from old buildings and creating new pieces. He spent many years restoring vehicles. Tom had an eye to make the old new again and did so with love and perfection. Through the years Tom could be found making candles, swimming, downhill skiing and cheering on the MN Twins. Later in life, he faced the progressive effects of Parkinson’s disease. Tom was always quick with a joke and he had an infectious smile. Tom found the most joy when gathered with his family.
Tom is survived by his wife Nancy of Red Wing, daughters Angie (Andy) Foss of Lake City, Beth (Ryan) Risberg of Hudson, WI. Two grandchildren, Gabriella Risberg and Mak Blanton. His sisters Cecilia (Joseph) Dunham, Mary Kaemmer and brother Michael Conway. His brothers-in-law, Scott Jahns and Dana, (Joan) Jahns. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Conway and sister, Theresa Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake City Sportsman’s Club on July 8th from 4pm-7pm. Please wear your MN Twins apparel or a good Hawaiian shirt. On Line Condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
