Tom Fechter

Tom Michael Fechter, 54, of Red Wing, died Sunday at his home in Red Wing. He was born January 31, 1952 in Red Wing to Russell and JoAnn (Lowe) Fechter and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1970. He attended Mankato State University, where he played basketball and had received most valuable player award his senior year. In 1974 he graduated with a business degree. He worked for Citizen Security in Red Wing as an Underwriter. In 1979 he married Wendy Jones; they were married for eighteen years. He also worked for Red Wing Shoe and relocated to Gallatin, Tennessee for ten years until he moved back to the Midwest and resided in Middleton, Wisconsin. In 1997 he returned to Red Wing and had currently been employed at Target. He enjoyed being outdoors and on the River, as well as fishing and camping. He is survived by two children, Judson Fechter and Jessica (Brian Connick) Fechter both of Madison, Wisc; one grandson, Andrew Fechter; his father, Russell Fechter of Red Wing; one brother, Victor (Christine) Fechter of Elk Grove, Calif; and two nieces, Lindsey and Kayla Fechter both of Elk Grove. He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn and his grandparents. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Reverend Gary Elg officiating. Memorials are preferred.
