Vera Roscelia Carlson, 93, of Red Wing, died Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Benedictine Living Community. She was born a triplet, on March 24, 1932, in West Florence Township, to Aruthur and Alvina (Michaelson) Cordes. Vera was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Florence and graduated from Lake City High School in 1950. On August 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to Russell Carlson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Florence. They made their home Featherstone Township where they raised their family, until 1977 when they moved to Hay Creek Township. Vera worked as a cook for the Red Wing School District for 20 years and retired in May of 1993. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek and was involved in the Ladies Aid and held many offices. Vera enjoyed baking, cooking and entertaining, especially for her family. She also enjoyed playing cards, traveling and gardening and was an avid sports fan of all kinds. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her children, Dean (Diane) Carlson, James (Cindy) Carlson, Denise Holm and Bruce (Jennifer) Carlson all of Red Wing; 9 grandchildren, Kelly Jo Carlson, Greg (Kristi) Carlson, Ryan (Michelle) Holm, Kevin (Elyse) Holm, Nicholas (Aleisha) Carlson, Katie Carlson, Stacy Carlson, Brittney Carlson (Dan Canada) and Travis (Isabella) Carlson; 13 great-grandchildren and her triplet sister, Verna Koenig of Lake City and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; son-in-law, Jerry Holm; grandson, Jacob Carlson and siblings, Orlin, Walter, Lyle and triplet brother, Vernice Cordes.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
