Verna Lydia Anderson

A funeral service for Verna Anderson will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with visitation one hour before. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery following the service.

Verna Anderson, age 91, passed away at the Zumbrota Care Center on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Verna Lydia Anderson was born January 14, 1935 in Elmira Township near Chatfield, MN to Delbert and Bertha (Kumbier) Busby. She attended the Goodhue rural county school. On October 7th, 1972 Verna was united in marriage to David Anderson at Minneola Lutheran Church. Verna worked at Banitts Clothing store, Montgomery Ward catalog, Zumbrota Livestock Auction, DHIA and Busby Hardware & Furniture. Verna retired in 2005 and enjoyed gardening, baking and embroidery while listening to Elvis Presley.

Verna loved spending time with her family; children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her extended family who were next door, the Vath family.

Verna is survived by one stepson Mark (Kirsten) Anderson of Spring Valley, MN; five grandchildren, David (Amanda) Anderson, Katherine (James) Hust, Aaron (Amairani) Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Nathan Anderson, and eight great grandchildren; siblings,Robert Busby, Richard (Peg) Busby, Betty Strusz.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband David Anderson; stepdaughter, Lori Timm; siblings, Berdella Groth, Leroy, Willis and Harvey Busby; in-laws, Laverne Groth, Jennie Busby, Kitty Busby, Pearl Busby, Marlene Busby, Leroy Strusz.
