Virginia Lampman

Virginia Lampman, 99, of Red Wing, departed this earthly realm after a brief illness and peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Zumbrota Health Services, surrounded by family.   She was born on September 5, 1924, in Litchfield, Minnesota to Charles and Hessie (Johnson) Minor.  She worked her first job at the Black Cat Café as a teenager and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1943.  Upon graduating, she and her sister Patricia found their way to  Red Wing.  Ginnie worked a short time at Red Wing Pottery and then found her life long career of 44 years at the Red Wing Shoe Company.  On December 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Erwin Lampman in Minneapolis, MN.  They had nearly 49 years together and many memories prior to his passing on August 9, 1996. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries where she volunteered much of her time in younger years as well as volunteering for the Red Cross Blood Bank and the Red Wing Area Food Shelf.  Outside of work, she enjoyed dancing with her husband (often people would clear the floor just to watch them). She also loved to cook and have food readily available for any guests that would show up at her door, playing cards, crocheting, shopping, traveling, spending time with family and friends and was a league bowler for many years.

Virginia is survived by her four children, Duane (Darlene) Lampman of Big Lake, Marlene Dunn of Red Wing, Eugene (Marilee) Lampman of Red Wing, Roxanne Johnson of Red Wing and step-daughter Fayette Cochran of CA; daughter-in-law, Carol Lampman of Ellsworth, WI; Grandchildren; Rachelle, Kristi, Kim, Lonnie, Sean, Heather, Christine, Michelle, Michael and Scott; Step-grandchildren; Rick, Michael, Denice, April, Suzette and Robin; 24 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Erwin; stepson Giles; seven brothers; Arnold, Ellsworth, Rogers, Lyle, Charles Jr., Nelson and Olonzo and three sisters; Patricia, June and Emma.
