Waunita “Nita” Lorraine Wallace, 100, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at her home in Lake City, MN.

Nita was born on July 1, 1923 in Lake City to Albert & Emma (Johnson) Lindeen. She was baptized on July 29, 1923 and confirmed on May 16, 1937. She graduated Lincoln High School in 1941 and was employed by Dwelle Telephone Company as a Switch Board Operator. Nita married Robert Wallace on July 18, 1945 in Lake City. They celebrated 61 years before Bob’s death on February 12, 2007. Nita was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City, loved music and sang in the church choirs for over 60 years. She was a past Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, a member of the Esther Circle, and served on various boards and committees. She and her husband were past members of the Joy Singers and the Lake City Choral Association.

Nita is survived by her son, Richard of Lake City; daughter in law, Molly Wallace of Minneapolis; 4 grandsons, James (Colleen) Wallace, Ian Wallace, Christopher Wallace, and Andrew Wallace; adopted family of Debbie Mickelson of Lake City.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; her son, Robert Wallace Jr., her granddaughter, Colleen Wallace; her grandson, Adam Wallace; her brother Robert Lindeen.

Memorial service will on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11 am at First Lutheran Church in Lake City, Pastor Paul Miller will be presiding. Visitation will be one hours before the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
