Wayne Ernest Burfeind, 64, of Lake City, Minnesota, passed away December 26, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Lake City surrounded by his family. He was born, August 4, 1947 in Lake City to Ernest and Ella (Gnotke) Burfeind. He was baptized September 14, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City and was confirmed there on May 21, 1961. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. He was married to Jo Ann Wohlers at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City on August 24, 1968. After High School, Wayne joined the National Guard. He worked at Gary's 66 Station, Di-Acro, and then was the parts manager at Tom Heffernan Ford for 10 years until health affected his working ability in 1982. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in June of 1981. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. He was also a member of the Lakesters Car Club. Wayne loved watching car races and visiting with his many friends he looked forward to his visits from his grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife, JoAnn, daughter, Bridget Jo (Emery) Farnsworth, granddaughters, Tia and Tawnie Farnsworth, and grandson Emery G. Farnsworth, sisters Marjean (Delbert) Severson and Jeanette Burfeind. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Lloyd and Emery.
Funeral Service will be at 2p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church and The Lake City Care Center
