William F. Gunnels III

William Frederick Gunnels, III, died Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Lake City Care Center.  He was born on August 22, 1960, in Danville, IL to William F. II and Nena (Crenshaw) Gunnels.  He received his education in Hendersonville, NC.    Throughout his life, despite his medical condition, Bill enjoyed traveling with his parents, especially the month-long trip to Europe in 1979, to trace steps his father took during WWII.  He was a lover of nature and all its little creatures. Since 2009 he has resided at the Lake City Care Center.

Survivors include distant relatives, his local friends from the Lake City area and at the care center.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Shepherd Memorial Park Cemetery in Hendersonville, NC.  Memorials are preferred to Blue Ridge Honor Flight, 1504 5th Ave West Suite B, Hendersonville, NC  28739.  Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel.
