Woodrow Woody Wallin, 87, of Red Wing, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Fairview Seminary Home. He was born November 21, 1918 in Hager City to Hilding and Jeannette (Erickson) Wallin. He attended Lindgren Grade School and then Ellsworth High School. He worked on his uncle?s farm until enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1941, serving in the European Theater until he was honorably discharged in 1945. On November 30, 1945 he married Betty Taplin in Ellsworth. They moved to Milwaukee where he attended the Milwaukee school of Engineering and then moved to Chippewa Falls until coming to Red Wing in 1951. He worked as a machine mechanic for the Redwing Shoe Company for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of United Lutheran Church, Leo C. Peterson American Legion # 54, VFW Burnson-Lillyblad #1218, United Commercial Travelers, Indian Head Motorcycle Club and was a charter member of the Auxiliary Red Wing Police. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Red Wing; 4 children, Dennis (Fay) of Hastings, Duane (Susan) of Diamond Bluff, Darnell (Cheryl) of Hager City and Gloria (Jack) Reeck of Red Wing; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Royce. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Clark Cary officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Scott, Darren and Carl Wallin and Jacob Redding. Honorary Pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Dena Long, Jennifer Stephenson, Jess VanKuyk, Mikki Reeck, Abby Villaran and Lindsay Wallin. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with a Legion Prayer Service at 7 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
