Zenos H. Tackmann, age 75, of Lake City died January 31, 2006 at the Lake City Hospital. Zenos was born December 27, 1930 in Belvidere Township in Goodhue County to Leonard & Laura (Dahling) Tackmann. Zenos graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and graduated in 1952. He married Patricia Brostrom February 2, 1952 at First Lutheran Church in Lake City. He then joined the Marines in April of 1952 and served until being discharged in 1954. He returned to Lake City and worked for Verner Wise Sheet Metal. He purchased the business in 1965 and owned and operated Tackmann Sheet Metal for 33 years until retiring in 1998. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, on the building committee, and active in two bible study groups. He was also a member of the Lake City Fire Department for 20 years where he served as training officer for many years. He was also a member of the Lake City American Legion Post 110, Lake City Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Pack 94 Cub Scout Leader, Lake City Utility Board, Lake City Chamber of Commerce, and Mission Jamaica. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards with friends, and spending time with his grandchildren at their school and church activities. He is survived by his wife Patricia, four sons David (Deborah) of Eau Claire, WI, James (Patricia) of Rochester, Paul (Patti) of Lake City, Daniel (Lori) of Arlington, MN; two daughters Mary ( Landa Williams) of Teaneck, NJ, Ruth Hutchinson of Lake City; 17 grandchildren; one sister Grace (Henry) Francis of Havelock, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Roger. A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastors Laurie Stoeger and Wayne Radke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church. Military Honors will be performed by VFW Post 8729 & American Legion Post 110 of Lake City. Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Building Fund, and Mission Jamaica.
