Bruce Paasch, 68, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Mayo Clinic Saint Mary’s Campus in Rochester. He was born October 26, 1951 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Alvin and Bernice (Bergan) Paasch. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School, class of 1969, and went on to attend Red Wing VoTech. He worked at various places in Red Wing, but the job he enjoyed the most was working for Lee Lines Bus Company, as a school bus and motorcoach driver until his stroke in 2002. On June 10, 1978 he married Nancy Swanson and they made their home in Red Wing.
Bruce was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion. He was active with the Boy Scouts and often arranged to drive the bus for his kids away games. The kids on his bus route knew he always kept Jolly Ranchers in his pocket. And like the kids, the dogs on Cherry Street knew they could count on Bruce for treats. Bruce was a bit of a jokester who was happiest surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Red Wing; 4 children, Sheila (Greg) Haan of Hammond, Sherry (Jason) Breitung of Pepin, Chris Paasch of River Falls and Karrie (Jeff) Danielson of Zumbrota; grandchildren, Logan, Madyson, Jacob, Taylor, McKenna, McKenzie, Edyn, Reese and Riley; his mother, Bernice Haugrose of Red Wing and one nephew, Dennis Stanley of Lake City.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin; brother, Larry and sister, Carol Merckling.
