Consuela "Connie" Marie (Shelstad) Klein

Consuela “Connie” Shelstad Klein, 52, of Hudson, Wisconsin died Tuesday June 29, 2021 at Hudson Hospital and Clinic in Hudson as the result of complications of Multiple Sclerosis and Ataxia, after a long and difficult history with those diseases.

Consuela Marie Shelstad was born August 12, 1968 in Rochester, the daughter of James and Sylvia (Kleven) Shelstad. Educated in Pine Island, she was an active and enthusiastic participant in 4-H, cheerleading, and band. She was a graduating member of the Class of 1986. She attended RCTC, and then Mankato State University, from which she earned a bachelor’s degree. She married Bill Klein on July 10, 2004 on a riverboat in Prescott, Wisconsin. She enjoyed waitressing, and eventually retired as a customer service representative at Comcast due to health concerns. Connie was passionate about scrapbooking, cats, and spending time with family. She was always a positive presence, and when asked, she was always “fine.”

She is survived by her husband, Bill Klein of Hudson; her mother, Sylvia Shelstad of Zumbrota; a brother, Tony (Kerry) Shelstad of Princeton, Minnesota; a sister, Sarah (Justin) Kickbusch of Apple Valley; nieces and nephews, Kaylee and Ryan Shelstad, and Leo and Margot Kickbusch.

She was preceded in death by her father in 2017; and her grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island.  The Reverend Marie Anderson will officiate.  Visitation will be Tuesday July 6th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel, in Pine Island.  The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
