Darlene “Dar” Hazel Nash, 82, of Red Wing, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at her home. She was born March 31, 1938 to Gordon and Hazel (Mickow) Haas in Lake City. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to Northwestern Technical Institute where she received certification as a Lab and Xray Technician. She met Dale Nash at her sister’s wedding where she was the maid of honor and he was the best man. The couple was married on January 8, 1966 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Together they raised 3 sons. She worked at the Medical Block, for Dr. George Hawley’s private practice and she retired from the Fairview Clinic Downtown. Dar was a member of St. Johns Lutheran. She loved activities that took her outdoors like gardening, hunting, fishing and watching her humming birds. Dar was known for making canned creole tomato juice. She was deeply invested in grandchildren. She also loved her dogs, especially Fluffy, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Dean (Yelba) Olson, David (Angie McGrath) Nash and Don (Theresa) Nash, all of Red Wing; 6 grandchildren, Whitney Seyffer, Ashley Lobe, Spencer Nash, Jeremy Olson, Hunter Nash and Hannah Nash; one great-grandson, Bergen Seyffer; sister, Muriel Weber of Mantorville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; brother, Carl; sister, Bonnie; and her parents.
A private family service will be held. An hour of public visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. A second public gathering will be held from 1-3 p.m., Thursday, January 7 at the Izaak Walton in Red Wing.
