Douglas Allen Whaley

December 28, 1973 — February 6, 2023

Hager City

Douglas Allen Whaley, 49, of Hager City, Wisconsin died Monday, February 6, 2023 as the result of a car accident while stopping to help someone in the ditch. He was born December 28, 1973 in Saginaw, Michigan to Stanley and Cynthia (Teelander) Whaley. He grew up in Michigan and attended Cadillac High School. He moved to Florida where he worked various jobs, including a job with the Osceola County Road Commission. He married Lori Marlen and the couple had three children; Tanner, Ethan, and Tiana. They later divorced. He relocated with his family to Minnesota. He later moved to Wisconsin where Doug drove truck for Ferguson Trucking and Hager City Trucking. At the time of his passing he was the Public Works Forman for the City of Prescott. After many years together, he married the love of his life, Celina Erickson, in 2019. They had one daughter, Courtney.

Doug loved music of all kinds. (He also happened to be an expert guitar player - in the video game Rock Band, anyway.) He like playing DJ at deck parties at Brad and Kay’s Campground in Minong, Wisconsin where he and Celina had a camper. He enjoyed learning new things and loved watching documentaries – even the boring ones. He loved his country and was proud to be an American. Doug was funny and a wiseacre who was never wrong, although that part is still up for debate. He may have been a bit of a loud-mouth and stubborn in all the best ways, but moreover, Doug had a big heart. He was always ready and willing to help others regardless of the circumstances. He adored his family and was very proud of his children.

He will be missed by many, including his wife, Celina; children, Tanner (Lizzy Butler) Whaley, Ethan (Angeline Watts) Whaley, Tiana (Josh Diaz) Whaley, and Courtney Whaley; grandchildren, Cain Butler, and Anastasia Diaz; brothers, David Whaley and Robert Evans; sisters, Jerri Ficher, Kimberley Laycock, and Sara Patrick; parents, Cynthia (Jerry) Evans and Stan (Lynn) Whaley; father-in-law, Michael Erickson; mother-in-law, Cassie Seidl; brother-in-law, Skip Erickson; as well as 21 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be 1 – 4 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2023 at The Bluffs in Hager City. (Feel free to wear Detroit Lions colors.) Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
