Elise Halvorson, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Deer Crest Assisted Living Facility in Red Wing. Elise was born on December 19, 1935, in Colquitt, Georgia, to William and Vera (Williams) Mock. She was raised, along with her 5 siblings, on a cotton and peanut farm. Elise became a basketball player at an early age and this was something she enjoyed her entire life. She was especially proud of playing in the Georgia state champion game for Miller County High School in 1953. On December 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to Frederick Halvorson. They made their home in Wanamingo and had two sons, Fredrick and Kyle. Her hobbies included playing in the Granny Basketball League, bowling, Bridge and especially watching her grandchildren grow up.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Fred of Wanamingo; sister, Sylvia (Claude) Newsome; brother, Bill Mock; sons, Fredrick (Brenda) of Cannon Falls and Kyle (Jody) of Wanamingo; grandchildren, Corey (Mike) Lande, Tucker (Anna) Halvorson, Tyler (Bettina) Halvorson, and Christopher Halvorson; and great-grandchildren, Leon and Claire Halvorson and Viveca Lande.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vera Mock; twin sister, Eloise; brothers, Joe and Broughton Mock; and sister-in-law, Donna Mock.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Wanamingo Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Wanamingo Lutheran Church Cemetery.
