Geraldine Delores Wallaker

Geraldine Delores (Schaefer) Wallaker, 91,  passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Zumbrota Care Center.  Geraldine was born on June 22, 1930 in Eyota, MN to Harold and Erma (Messner) Schaefer.  She grew up in this area and attended the Pine Island country school as a child.  On October 4, 1952 Geraldine married Robert “Red” Wallaker in Sioux Falls, SD.  Geraldine enjoyed many hobbies including, quilting, sewing, baking, preparing photo albums, and having coffee with friends.  She was mostly a homemaker but also worked at Casey’s Pizza, Maple Island and Visitation in Mendota Heights.

Geraldine is survived by seven children;  Gerald (Linda) Wallaker, Nancy Raths (friend Jim Kittelson), LaRita (Jim) Brown, Cheryl (Merlin) Moreland, Teresa (Larry) Lawson, Brenda (Jack) Harvey and Steven Wallaker;  23 grandchildren;  51 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren;  son-in-law, George McWaters;  five siblings, Norman “Bud” Schaefer, Dale (Janet) Schaefer, Galen Schaefer, Bonnie (Harlan) Hokanson and Barb Gullickson;  sister-in-law LaVonne Schaefer.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert;  daughter Debra McWaters;  great grandson Austin Larson;  son-in-law Don Raths;   brother Lowell Schaefer;  sister Shirley Braaten;  half-brothers Lowell Schaefer and Robert Schaefer; half-sisters Theresa Wiley and Darlene Richter;  brothers-in-law Eugene Gullickson and Robert Braaten;  Steven’s longtime friend, Pam Sawyer.

The funeral service for Geraldine will be 11:00 am Monday, October 18, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo, with Pastor Christopher Culuris officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Online condolences are welcome and may be shared at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
