Gwendolyn Marie Heesch, 68, of Houston, Minn., formerly of Red Wing, died peacefully Monday, November 16, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 3, 1952, in Red Wing to Alfred and Margaret (Deden) Halverson.  She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1970. On September 6, 1980, she was united in marriage to Richard Heesch. They lived in Red Wing, where she was employed at Pearle Vision, and formed many close friendships.  In 2018 they moved to Houston to be closer to their grandchildren.  Gwen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek.  She loved playing with her grandchildren, camping and hiking with her family at Frontenac State Park. She enjoyed wild horses and the sound of the wind through pine trees; the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Rocky Mountains were among her favorite places. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered, always.

Gwen is survived by her husband, Richard; two children, Ryan Heesch of Minneapolis, Amber (Chris) Kildahl of Houston and; three grandchildren, Easton, Savannah, and Emmalyn; three sisters, Judy (Gary) Lohmeyer of Red Wing, Kathy (Carl) Hill of Spooner, Wis. and  Amy (Vince) Baack of North Mankato along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek, with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to the Back Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary, The Parks and Trails Council of Minnesota, or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
