Obituary

Harold Henry Berg, 86, of Lake City, Minn. passed away at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn. on September 30, 2022.
 

Harold was born on August 6, 1936, in Lake City, Minn. to Lloyd and Florence (Schmidt) Berg. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City, Minn. in 1954. Harold married Margaret (Peggy Florin) in Lake City Minn. in 1957.  They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.  Harold retired from Cargill in 1993 after 33 years.  He worked at the Lake City Golf Course for several years after retirement. He served in the 544th U.S. Army Reserves and was on the Lake City Auxiliary police in his younger years. He had his own logging company with Bill Powers and was a Conklin Distributor.  Harold had many talents and enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, wood carving, skiing, golfing, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.  He served as the Mount Frontenac Ski Patrol director and was a member of the Ski Patrol for 15 plus years. 

Harold is survived by his wife, Peggy his children, Debbie (Steve Shope) of Bozeman, MT; Peter of Palisade, CO; Bradley (Shirley Kingsley-Berg) of Oronoco, MN. Survivors also include seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three siblings, brothers Gerald (Dolores) Berg of Lake City Minn.; William (Betty) Berg of Hastings, Minn.; sister Mary Berg-Lichtblau of Hibbing, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Harold Berg will be at Saint Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, Minn. on Friday, October 14 at 11:30 am Father Joseph Pete Officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior 10:30 am   at the church. The service will be live-streamed on the Mahn Family Funeral Home Facebook page. The family requests that memorials be given to the St. Croix Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.  A lunch will be provided following the service at the church.  Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home.
