Jeanette Ann Micka

March 24, 1947 — February 12, 2021

Lake City

Jeanette Ann Micka, 73, of Lake City, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Lake City Care Center.  She was born March 24, 1947, in Crookston, Minnesota, to John and Luverne (Severin) Micka. Her family moved to Grand Forks, where she graduated from Grand Forks Central High in 1965.  She went on to attend Business school in the area and was employed at the Grand Forks Hospital. She had an urge to travel and explore new places, so she set out to live and find jobs in different places throughout the US.  She lived in Madison, Wisconsin for a time and took classes to become a key-punch operator. She worked at the University of Wisconsin and later at the Rayovac Company.  After a while, she decided it was time to be closer to family, and she moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where she was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital, working in the kitchen, retiring after almost 20 years.  Jeanette was an animal lover, she enjoyed music, doing cross-word puzzles, embroidering and crafts—decorating gifts and making cards.  At one time she enjoyed bowling and had been on a bowling league.  Jeanette had a quick-wit about her, often making jokes and she was always a very giving person. She enjoyed her family and especially spending time with her grand-nephews.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Eilert of Grand Meadow, MN; brother, Edward J. (Linda) Micka of Perham, MN; nieces and nephews, Kimberly Toso of East Grand Forks, MN, Jody (David) Kruckeberg of Zumbrota, MN, Randy (Becky) Eilert of Cape  Coral, FL, and Tyler Micka of Seattle, WA; grand-nephews, Dominik, Dakota, Austin and Justin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Robert Micka.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2021 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Masks and social distancing will be required.
