Jonathan Fisher

April 11, 1973 — January 30, 2023

Rochester

Jonathan Lee Fisher, 49, of Rochester, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Jon was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on April 11, 1973.  He grew up in Rochester, Minnesota and enjoyed swimming, skiing, camping, fishing, and boating with his family.

On August 20, 1991, Jon married Anjanette Lundy; they had four children: Kieran, Harley, Dash, and Roman.

Jon was a truck driver for more than 20 years. He drove school buses, concrete mixers, dump trucks, car haulers, and semi-trucks over the course of his trucking career. As a truck driver, he visited almost all 50 states missing only Maine, Alaska, and Hawaii. In his 40’s, Jon returned to school and graduated from Rochester Community and Technical College’s Law Enforcement Program in 2015. He served 4 years as a Police Officer for the City of Wabasha. In 2020, he returned to RCTC as a student in the Aviation Program to pursue his pilot’s license. He was one lesson shy of his first solo flight when he was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Jon was determined to live with his cancer and spent much of the last two years busy living. In between chemo treatments and medical appointments, he competed in the Bass Pro Shop US Open National Bass Fishing Amateur Team Championship in Arkansas; spent a week fishing in Ely, MN with his cousin and brother; went on a guided walleye tour in northern MN; took his youngest son to Disney World; flew to North Carolina to celebrate his uncle’s 80th birthday; spent a week in Texas on a chartered Gulf of Mexico deep sea fishing expedition; flew in a T-6 Texan WWII aircraft; took a big rig trip to Kentucky; enjoyed a week in Cancun, Mexico with his parents, and went to several gun shows. He never missed the annual fishing trip to the cabin on Lake Miltona, the Tracker/Nitro Owner’s Fishing Tournament in Waconia, or trips to Valley Fair with his former co-workers. He watched every Viking’s football game, painful as that might be, and always made time for lunch out with his cop buddies.

Jon was a proud member of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish band of Potawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe) of Michigan. He visited tribal lands several times for various events and to see family there.

Jon’s interests included movies, video gaming, fishing, hunting, guns, football, motorcycles, fast cars, good food, good music, and jump-scaring his family. Two of his proudest recent moments were purchasing his boat: a 2015 Nitro ZV18 and eating 16 ears of corn at Valley Fair’s CornFeast in 2018 to win a giant stuffed gorilla and title of Corn Eating Champion. Jon was mischievous, adventurous, and always willing to help when and wherever needed.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Anjanette; sons, Kieran (Angela), Dashiell, and Roman; daughter, Harley (Ryan); his parents, Barbara and Mark Fisher, brother, Jeremy (Megan); nephews, Jack and Zane; mother-in-law, Judy Lundy and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Noelle; grandparents, Fred and Alida DeBoer, and Jack and Doris Fisher; and father-in-law, Steven Lundy.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Rochester Chapel. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
