Zumbrota

Joyce Elaine Oimoen, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 10th in Pine Island.
She was born on September 5, 1929 to George and Julia (Knudson) Anderson in Daleyville, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of four children and enjoyed growing up in that beautiful area.
On June 23rd, 1951, she married the love of her life, Donald David Oimoen. They were married for 62 years and had 3 children. Because of Don’s career with Armour Foods, they lived in several states including Indiana, Illinois, South Dakota and in 1969, they settled in Zumbrota, Minnesota. Joyce spent many years working in the bakery at Red Owl, enjoyed volunteering at her church and was a wonderful Cub Scout leader for her boys as they grew up. She loved spending time with friends and neighbors and loved going back to Wisconsin for family reunions and holidays. Joyce at 92 years old, lived in her house up until December 31, 2021. She was a strong Norwegian woman, and very proud of it.
Joyce was very passionate about her family and wanted to hear all about the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and when Don was still alive they loved to dance, play cards and watch the birds together.
Left to cherish her memory include son Bruce (Elaine) Oimoen, Clear Lake, Iowa; daughter Patty (Todd) Kalass, Kingwood Texas; daughter-in-law Lee Anne Oimoen, Libertyville, Illinois; grandchildren Julianne, Joe, Mike, Angela, Erik and Haley; great-grandchildren Tyler, Adysen and Stevie Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Anderson, husband Donald (2014), son Stephen (2021), sister Gladys Montgomery and brothers Don Anderson and Vernon Anderson.
A burial at the Zumbrota Cemetery is planned for Spring 2022.
Memorials are suggested to United Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Blessed be her memory.
