Karen Diane Buckley, 77, of Red Wing, died Thursday, June 13, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born October 15, 1941 in Peoria, Illinois to Roy and Elizabeth (Harney) Hoshor. She graduated from East Peoria High School in 1960. She went on to get her bachelors in music education from Bradley University. On June 12, 1965 she married Donald Buckley. Together the couple moved to Janesville, Wisconsin where she created music programs for two area catholic grade schools. She and Don then moved to Red Wing where she worked as a substitute teacher for Red Wing grade schools. She also worked at Red Wing Stoneware and the Red Wing Shoe Company. She retired from the accounting department of the Shoe in 2007 after 14 years. She loved teaching private piano lessons, golfing, cooking, canning and other crafts. She volunteered her time playing piano at the area nursing homes and the senior center.
She is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Kevin (Jen), Brad (Megan) and Jeff; six grandchildren, Kiley, Abby, Hattie, Elsie, Jared and Grayson; two sisters, Joyce Abel and Denise Hoshor.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
