Kayden Lee Staege

June 12, 2021 — August 13, 2022

Red Wing

Kayden Lee Staege, 1, of Red Wing, passed away with his mother by his side, on Saturday, August 13, 2022 after a life long struggle with a blood clotting disorder, at the Mayo Clinic – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.

Kayden was born June 12, 2021 in Rochester to Elizabeth Staege. While his health was always tenuous, he was able to come home to Red Wing under the close watch of his doctors until he was old enough for a bone marrow transplant at 6 months. Despite everyone’s care and best efforts, Kayden struggled following his many surgeries but always remained a smiley, happy baby. Kayden was baptized on July 30, 2022

He loved Mickey Mouse, watching cartoons, and snuggling in blankets with his mom. He like to make tiger growls at his grandparents and jam out to music with his music therapist. He liked to be rocked and hummed to sleep. Even though most of his life was spent in the hospital he was full of personality, showered with love, and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth; grandfather, Stephen Staege; grandmother, Kim Staege; aunt, Haley Staege; uncle, Stephen Staege, Jr.; great-grandfather, Glen Staege; and great-grandparents, Robert and Linda Gilbertson; as well as many great aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.

He is preceded in death by his great-uncles, Tim Gleason and Bill Staege; and great-grandmother, Deliela Staege.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
