Kristian Sander Johnson

December 17, 1971 — January 13, 2021

Red Wing

Kristian Sander Johnson died on January 13, 2021. He left behind many friends who loved him, as well as his mother (Glenna), father (Richard), brothers Tucker (Heather, Erica, Justin), and Andy (Lori and Anika). Born on December 17th, 1971, in Wacouta, Kris attended Red Wing schools and graduated from Arizona State University. His friends knew him as being “larger than life.” With a passion for travel, a love of music, and a talent for making friends and family laugh, Kris leaves a host of fond memories in his wake. He taught his nieces and nephew how to live in the moment. From diving off the Eisenhower bridge, to attending the Soccer World Cup in Paris, to the years spent exploring Brazil and the Tetons, his adventurous spirit is fondly remembered.  He spent his childhood playing with the family’s dogs, giving his friends memories they won’t forget, and enjoying life on the Mississippi, which laid claim to his heart forever.

With a willingness to play in the mud and pose the question, “did you know speedboats can fly?” Kris lived boldly and found joy wherever he went.  He was a master of trivia and finding the best burger. On any given day, he would quote Shakespeare and Forrest Gump.

“That though the radiance which was once so bright be now forever taken from my sight.  Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower.  We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.”  William Wordsworth

A celebration of life will be announced in summer on Mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com. Online messages may be left for the family at the aforementioned website.
