Marlene Ella (Arends) Betcher

Marlene Betcher, 80, of Mazeppa, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester.

Marlene Ella Arends was born June 18, 1941 to Marvin and Rosella (Schultz) Arends, at their home, in Watopa Township, Wabasha County.  She graduated from Wabasha High School in 1958.  Marlene then went on to Harding Beauty School in Winona, graduating in 1959.  She was then employed with them and eventually received her managers license, allowing her to open her own beauty shop in Mazeppa.

Marlene met her husband, Henry Betcher, in 1961 at the Kellogg Watermelon Festival and were married November 2, 1963 at the Weaver Methodist Church, in Altura, MN.  She enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts and reading.  Marlene and Henry enjoyed many summers at the camper, on the lake, in Cumberland, WI. The couple also traveled to many different places through the years, especially Las Vegas and Branson, MO.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Henry;  brother, Bernie (Kate) Arends of Cottage Grove, MN, sister, Joan (Mark) Hall of Kellogg, MN;  several nephews and nieces.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mazeppa, with Reverend Alan Horn officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Mazeppa Cemetery.  Online condolences are welcome and may be shared at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
