Marlys Lorraine Burton

Funeral services for Marlys Burton will be held Wednesday July 17th at 11:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. The Rev. Barbara Streed will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Mrs. Burton, 90, of Dodge Center, died Saturday July 13, 2019 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Marlys Lorraine Kohn was born December 4, 1928 in Spring Valley, Minnesota. She married William F. Burton on April 6, 1945 in Spring Valley. She worked various jobs, and from 1972 to 1977 she was the summertime cook at the YMCA's Camp Olson in Longville, Minnesota. She then worked in dietary research at Mayo Clinic until her retirement. Marlys was well known for her cooking abilities, and she always made sure everyone was well fed.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Burton of Kasson, Minnesota, Timothy (Susan) Burton of Surprise, Arizona, Randy (Barbara) Burton of Rochester; a daughter, Paulette (Don) Ojanen of Deer River, Minnesota; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Burton of Rochester; eleven grandchildren, Melissa and Heidi, Jason and Andrea, Todd and Chad, Ryan and Tyler, Sarah, Megan, and Matthew; sixteen great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976; a daughter Pamela; son Richard; daughter-in-law Diane; a sister Verleen Loots; and a brother Donald Kohn.
