Martin “Marty” Quam 85, of Red Wing, died Sunday, September 20, 2020, at Bay View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Red Wing.  He was born on April 2, 1935, in Leon Township. Goodhue County, Minnesota.  At the age of 10, he moved with his family to Cannon Falls and graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1953.  He worked for various businesses in Cannon Falls and also owned and operated a gas station.  In 1956, he married Gladys Reams and they later divorced.  In 1955 he began working at the Bay State Milling until it burned in 1973.  He then went to work for the Lake City Flour Mill as a 2nd miller for 13 years.  In 1972 he married Dorothy Carlson and they later divorced.  In 1986 he developed “white lung” and retired.  He began selling insurance in 1987 and retired from that in 1995.  On June 5, 1993, he married Dorothy “Dottie” Suefert.  He was a member of United Lutheran Church and the Redmen Club.  He enjoyed watching football and baseball, playing cards, dancing, fishing, studying the Bible and most of all he enjoyed his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dottie; one son, Dennis (Nancy) Quam of Battle Lake, Minn.; three grandchildren, Amanda (Moises), Darren and Ashley Quam; one step daughter, Patricia Owen of Cottage Grove; two step grandchildren, Eleanor Brinsko of Sun Prairie, Wis. and Michael Peterson of Cottage Grove; one step great grandchild, Peter Brinsko of Sun Prairie, Wis.; two brothers, Dareld (Eileen) Quam of Cannon Falls and Roger (Judy) Quam of Cannon Falls; one nephew, Kerry (Lynn) Quam; four nieces, Krisanda Corelli, Deanna (Gregory) Nielsen, Traci (Sam) Jacobson and Jessica (Matthew) Braaten.  He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Kevin Quam and step-son, Ronald Owen III.

Private services will be held at United Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
