Marvin Arthur Born age 88, of Red Wing, died Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Benedictine Living Community – Villa. He was born March 30, 1932 in Belle Creek to Arthur and Ella (Kempf) Born. He attended school in the Belle Creek area. On May 15, 1951 he married Virginia Pfingsten in Ellsworth, WI. They lived on various farms in Goodhue County where Marvin worked at along with helping at the family farm in Featherstone Township. He worked at Bay State Flour for 18 years until it burned down. He then worked for the City of Red Wing where he worked for 20 years until he retired in 1993. Marvin enjoyed playing cards, camping, bowling, crafting, being a handyman, gardening and most of all spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing.
He is survived by his three children, Jerry (Ann) Born of Red Wing, Linda (Paul) Skovbroten of Rochester and Kevin (Debbie) Born of Red Wing; son-in law, Kevin Avery of Welch; ten grandchildren, Shawna (Chad) Peterson, Sara (Todd) Winkels, Jared (Nicole) Skovbroten, Carrie (Derrick) Madsen, Jennifer (Justin) Hoffman, Adam (Vicki) Avery, Andy (Kelly) Avery, Tyler (Maeta) Avery, Jordan (Misty Oliver) Born and Rachel Born; eighteen great grandchildren; brother, Loren Born of Aberdeen, SD; sister-in-law, Dorothy Quam of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; daughter, Diane Avery; sister, Leora Reese.
A public visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. A private funeral service can be livestreamed on the Mahn Family Funeral Home Facebook page at 11 a.m. burial with be at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing.
