Rodney Joice Lohman

January 14, 1942 — July 20, 2019

Rodney Joice Lohman, 77, of Goodhue, died Saturday, July 20, 2019, at home, surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with lymphoma. Rodney was born in Red Wing on January 14, 1942, and later graduated from Red Wing High School. On September 21, 1963, he married Leola Van Deusen, whom he had three children with. After high school, Rodney held various jobs before transitioning to a long career of over the road trucking across the country for various organizations. During his time on the road, he would make lifelong friends under the CB handle "Dragonfly." In his later years though, Rodney would find happiness in his new occupation as a greeter at Walmart, where he welcomed people into the store like no one else could. Known for his fun-loving personality and ready laugh, Rodney had the ability to bring a smile to any face no matter the situation, In his free time, he enjoyed Westerns (especially the ones starring John Wayne) and listening to some of his favorite classic country tunes. He enjoyed going to Treasure Island and watching the deer and birds at his house.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Leola; his children, Robin (Anthony) Breuer of Lake City, Brian Lohman of Goodhue and Cory (Amber) Lohman of Goodhue, his grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Huneke of Bellechester, Carissa Breuer (Adam George) of Winona, Tyler (Mary) Breuer of Kasson, Mitchell Breuer (Amanda Clugston) of Winona, Shane Lohman of Red Wing, Michelle (Travis) Temple of Hastings, Cody and Colten Lohman of Goodhue and his great grandchildren, Ryan, and Austyn Huneke and Brooklyn and Jesse Lohman, his sisters, Sharon (Jim) Krie of Red Wing, Linda (Don) Tietz of Cottage Grove and Sue (Gaylen) Langer of Beldenville, Wis., his brothers, Mark Lohman of Minneapolis and Jim (Kathy) Lohman of Red Wing; and his four legged companion, Cruz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joice and Irene; his sister, Sandra; his niece, Barb and his granddaughter, Anna.
A celebration of life service will be held at 37688 County Road 5, Lake City, Minnesota 55041 on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
